প্রবীণ নাগরিকদের জন্য বিনামূল্যে চক্ষু পরীক্ষার ব্যবস্থা নিয়ে কলকাতার তেঘরিয়ার ভিআইপি রোডের পাশে শুরু হল নতুন চক্ষু হাসপাতাল ও রিসার্স সেন্টার রেনুকা ইনস্টিটিউট। যেখানে খুবই স্বল্প মূল্যে ক্যাটারাক্ট ভিট্রিও রেটিনা, কর্নিয়া, অকুলোপ্লাস্টি, আর ও পি স্ক্রীনিং এন্ড ট্রিটমেন্ট, রিফ্রাক্টিভ সার্জারি, পেডিয়াট্রিক অপথালমোলজি গড়ে উঠেছে। হাসপাতালের উদ্বোধন করেন বিধায়ক নির্মল মাঝি। তিনি বলেন, এই হাসপাতাল ও শিক্ষা প্রতিষ্ঠান সাধারন মানুষের কাজে আসবে।
সংস্থার প্রতিষ্ঠাতা ও ম্যানেজিং ডিরেক্টর অসিত চক্রবর্তী বলেন, আর্থিক কারণে অনেকেই সময় মতো চোখের চিকিৎসা করতে পারে না। সেই কথা মাথায় রেখে এখানে খুবই স্বল্প মূল্যে চোখের নানা চিকিৎসার ব্যবস্থা করা হয়েছে। বয়স্ক মানুষদের জন্য এদিন থেকে ২০ মে পর্যন্ত বিনামূল্যে চক্ষু পরীক্ষা করা হবে৷। এছাড়া এখানে চোখের চিকিতসায় বিভিন্ন কোর্স পড়ানো হবে স্বল্পমূল্যে।
