জম্মু-কাশ্মীরের বানিহাল থেকে গতকাল আলকায়দা জঙ্গি সন্দেহে আমিরুদ্দিন খান নামে এক ব্যক্তির গ্রেফতার হওয়ার খবরে হাওড়ার সাঁকরাইলের মাশিলা এলাকায় চাঞ্চল্য ছড়িয়েছে। দীর্ঘদিন ধরেই কাশ্মীরে বসবাস করছেন তিনি। জামা-কাপড়ের ব্যবসার পাশাপাশি স্থানীয় মাদ্রাসায় শিক্ষকতাও করতেন আমিরুদ্দিন। সাঁকরাইলের বাড়িতে শেষবার এসেছেন গত ঈদে। তার কাছ থেকে গ্রেনেড এবং অস্ত্রশস্ত্র উদ্ধার হয়েছে বলে দাবি করেছে জম্মু-কাশ্মীর পুলিশ।

অস্ত্র ও বিস্ফোরক আইন এবং UAPA – ধারায় মামলা রুজু করা হয়েছে তার বিরুদ্ধে। তবে, আমিরুদ্দিনের বিরুদ্ধে জঙ্গি কার্যকলাপের অভিযোগ মানতে নারাজ পরিবার এবং পাড়া প্রতিবেশীরা।
