বারে বারে বাড়ছে পেট্রোপণ্যের দাম। যেখানে আন্তর্জাতিক বাজারে পেট্রো পণ্যের দাম নিম্নমুখী সেখানে দেশে পেট্রোপণ্যের এই মূল্যবৃদ্ধির বিরুদ্ধে সরব কংগ্রেস সহ বিরোধী দলগুলি। বৃহস্পতিবার কলকাতায় ইন্ডিয়ান অয়েল এর সামনে এর প্রতিবাদে বিক্ষোভ প্রদর্শন করল আশুতোষ চট্টোপাধ্যায়ের নেতৃত্বে কংগ্রেসের কর্মী সমর্থকরা। আশুতোষ চট্টোপাধ্যায় বলেন কেন্দ্রের মোদি সরকার মুখে বলছে তারা সাধারণ মানুষের পাশে আছে আর অন্যদিকে দফায় দফায় পেট্রোপণ্য সহ সামগ্রিক নিত্যপ্রয়োজনীয় জিনিসের মূল্য বৃদ্ধি ঘটাচ্ছে।

এই মূল্য বৃদ্ধির ফলে সাধারণ মানুষ চরম দুরবস্থার সম্মুখীন হয়েছে। এমনিতেই করোনা আবহে লকডাউন এর ফলে বহু মানুষ কর্মহীন হয়ে পড়েছে। তার ওপর পেট্রোপণ্য সহ অন্যান্য সামগ্রীর মূল্য বৃদ্ধি ঘটায় সাধারণ মানুষের পক্ষে বেঁচে থাকাটাই কঠিন হয়ে উঠেছে। তাই কেন্দ্রের মোদি সরকারের কাছে অবিলম্বে এই পেট্রোপণ্যের মূল্য হ্রাসের দাবি জানান কংগ্রেসের নেতা কর্মীরা। আর কেন্দ্রীয় সরকার যদি তাদের এই ধারাবাহিক পেট্রোপণ্যের মূল্য বৃদ্ধি ঘটাতে থাকে তাহলে বৃহত্তর আন্দোলনের হুঁশিয়ারি দেওয়া হয়েছে
