দক্ষিন দিনাজপুরঃ ২৫ ডিসেম্বর খ্রিষ্টান ধর্মাবলম্বীদের সবচেয়ে বড় উৎসবের নাম ‘খ্রিস্টমাস’, বাংলায় একে বলা হয় ‘বড়দিন’। যিশু খ্রিস্টের জন্মোৎসবকে কেন্দ্র করে এই উৎসব পালন করা হয়ে থাকে। বিশ্বের অধিকাংশ দেশেই প্রতিবছর বড়দিন পালিত হয় ২৫ ডিসেম্বর। তবে রাশিয়া, জর্জিয়া, মিশর, আর্মেনিয়া, ইউক্রেন ও সার্বিয়ার মতো কয়েকটি ইস্টার্ন ন্যাশানাল চার্চ বড়দিন পালন করে থাকে ৭ জানুয়ারি তারিখে।
বড়দিন উপলক্ষে প্রতিবছরের মতো এবারও দক্ষিন দিনাজপুর জেলার গির্জাগুলো সেজে উঠেছে উৎসবের রঙে। বেশ কয়েকটি গির্জা ঘুরে দেখা গেছে, গির্জার প্রতিটি অংশে করা হয়েছে আলোকসজ্জা। লাল, নীল ও সবুজ এলইডি লাইটে ঝলমলে হয়ে উঠেছে গির্জাগুলো। তেমনি গঙ্গারামপুর শিববাড়ি মিশন চার্চও এলাকার বাড়িগুলো সেজে উঠেছে আলোর রোশনাই। চার্চের ফাদার জানান, ‘বড়দিন উপলক্ষে আমাদের প্রস্তুতি তিন-চার সপ্তাহ আগে থেকেই শুরু হয়। আমাদের দু’ধরনের প্রস্তুতি থাকে— একটি আধ্যাত্মিক ও অন্যটি বাহ্যিক।
আমরা আধ্যাত্মিকটিকেই বেশি গুরুত্ব দিয়ে থাকি। তবে বাহ্যিকটাও যথাযথ গুরুত্ব পায়। সেই সঙ্গে ২৫ ডিসেম্বর প্রার্থনা গির্জাতেই হবে, আর ধর্মীয় অনুষ্ঠানগুলো পরিবারিক ও সামাজিকভাবে অনুষ্ঠিত হবে।’ ‘‘বড়দিন উপলক্ষে আমরা আধ্যাত্মিক প্রস্তুতি নিয়ে থাকি। আমরা প্রার্থনা করে থাকি মন্দ দূর করে মুক্তিদাতা যিশুকে হৃদয় থেকে বরণ করে নেওয়ার। এ অনুষ্ঠান সকল ধর্মাবলম্বীদের জন্যই উন্মুক্ত থাকবে। আর বাচ্চাদের জন্যও বিশেষ কোনও ব্যবস্থা থাকছে। সেই আনন্দে উৎসব, বিচিত্র অনুষ্ঠানও হবে।’ ‘২৫ ডিসেম্বর আমাদের এখানে বাংলায় এবং ইংরেজিতে আলাদা আলাদা প্রার্থনা করা হবে। ইংরেজিতে প্রার্থনা শুরু হবে সকাল ৯টায় এবং বাংলায় শুরু হবে সকাল ১১টায়।
প্রার্থনা শেষে পবিত্র বাইবেল থেকে আলোচনা হবে। আমরা দেশের মঙ্গলের জন্য প্রার্থনা করি। শান্তি কামনা করে প্রার্থনা করি। আমাদের এখানকার অনুষ্ঠান সবার জন্য উন্মুক্ত। বিভিন্ন সামাজিক সংগঠনগুলোতে রয়েছে বড়দিনের বিশেষ আয়োজন। সেগুলো সবার জন্য উন্মুক্ত। অন্যদিকে, গঙ্গারামপু শহর জুড়ে ছোট বড় দোকান গুলিতে কেক বিক্রি বেড়েছে কেক বিক্রি করতে গিয়ে হিমশিম খাচ্ছেন দোকানদারেরা।তাছাড়াও বাচ্চা দের জন্য সান্টাকল্জের জামা বিক্রি হচ্ছে চরম মাত্রায় সব মিলিয়ে ২৫ ডিসেম্বর এখন শুধু খ্রিস্টান ধর্মে সীমাবদ্ধ নই সকল ধর্মের মানুষেরা শ্রদ্ধার সাথে কেক কেটে এই দিনটি পালন করেন।
