পুলিশ বোঝাই সরকারি বাসের সাথে ট্রাকের মুখোমুখি সংঘর্ষ উত্তর দিনাজপুর জেলার চোপড়ায়। ঘটনায় আহত ৩২ জন পুলিশ কর্মী। জানাজায় দার্জিলিঙ জেলা থেকে পঞ্চায়েত নির্বাচনে নিরাপত্তার দায়িত্ব পেয়ে উত্তর দিনাজপুর জেলায় আসার পথে দুর্ঘটনাটি ঘটে চোপড়ার কলাগছ এলাকায়।আহত পুলিশ কর্মীদের প্রথমে উদ্ধার করে দলুয়া প্রাথমিক স্বাস্থ্য কেন্দ্রে নিয়ে যাওয়া হলেও পরে তাঁদের শিলিগুড়ি স্থানান্তরিত করা হয়। ঘাতক ট্রাকটি রাস্তার ধারে উল্টে গেলেও চালক পলাতক। পুলিশ ঘটনার তদন্তে।
পুলিশ সূত্রে জানা গেছে, সরকারি বাসে ওই ৩২ জন পুলিশ কর্মী উত্তর দিনাজপুর জেলার গোয়ালপোখড়ে আসছিলেন পঞ্চায়েত নির্বাচনে নিরাপত্তার দায়িত্ব পেয়ে। সেই সময় চোপড়ার কলাগছ এলাকায় দুর্ঘটনাটি ঘটে।
