পশ্চিম-মধ্য ও সংলগ্ন পূর্ব-মধ্য বঙ্গোপসাগরে সৃষ্ট সামুদ্রিক ঘূর্ণিঝড় সিত্রং ঘন্টায় ১২ কিলোমিটার বেগে উত্তর, উত্তর-পূর্ব মুখে এগিয়ে চলেছে। গতকাল রাত সাড়ে ১১ টায় সেটি সাগর দ্বীপের ৫২০ কিলোমিটার দক্ষিণে এবং বাংলাদেশের বরিশালের ৬৭০ কিলোমিটার দক্ষিণ, দক্ষিণ-পশ্চিমে অবস্থান করছিলো।পরবর্তী কয়েক ঘন্টায় সেটি শক্তি বাড়িয়ে প্রবল সামুদ্রিক ঘূর্ণিঝড়ের আকার নেবে বলে মনে করা হচ্ছে। আগামীকাল ২৫ তারিখ ভোরে সেটি তিনকোনা দ্বীপ এবং সন্দ্বীপের মধ্য দিয়ে বাংলাদেশ উপকূল অতিক্রম করবে। ঘূর্ণিঝড়, বাংলাদেশের দিকে চলে গেলেও এরাজ্যের উপকূলবর্তী জেলাগুলিতে এর প্রভাব পড়বে। আজ ও আগামীকাল দুই ২৪ পরগণা ও দুই মেদিনীপুরে ভারি থেকে অতিভারি বৃষ্টির পূর্বাভাস রয়েছে। আজ ভারি বৃষ্টি হতে পারে হাওড়া, হুগলী, কলকাতায়। আগামীকাল দুই ২৪ পরগণার পাশাপাশি নদীয়া জেলায় ভারি বৃষ্টির পূর্বাভাস রয়েছে। হাল্কা থেকে মাঝারি বৃষ্টি হতে পারে মুর্শিদাবাদে।
