ঝাড়গ্রাম : প্রবাদ আছে কোনো গুণ নাই যার কপালে আগুন! প্রাচীন বাংলায় বেগুনের এমনই উপমা ছিল। যদিও পুষ্টি বিজ্ঞানীদের বক্তব্য, বেগুনে নানা ধরনের ভিটামিন আছে। যকৃতের সমস্যায় বেগুন খুবই উপকারী। অনিদ্রা রোগে বেগুন পুড়িয়ে মধু দিয়ে খাওয়ার চল রয়েছে। বৃক্কের সমস্যায়, বায়ুর প্রকোপে বেগুন উপকার দেয়।
তবে প্রাচীন বাংলার অনেক বাড়িতে দেবীর মহাভোগে বেগুন দেওয়া হত না। মনে করা হয়, তখনকার দিনে নির্গুণ ভেবে দেবীর ভোগের পদে ব্রাত্য ছিল বেগুন। তবে কৃষি বিজ্ঞানের উন্নতির সঙ্গে সঙ্গে বাজারে মেলে সাদা বেগুনও। অনেক পারিবারিক দুর্গাপুজোর মহাভোগে সাদা বেগুন দেওয়ার চল রয়েছে। ঝাড়গ্রামের আনাজ বাজারে অবশ্য সব সময় সাদা বেগুন পাওয়া যায় না। মঙ্গলবার মহা তৃতীয়ার সকালে ঝাড়গ্রাম সব্জি বাজারে এলো সাদা বেগুন। পাইকারি দর কিলো প্রতি ৩৫ টাকা। খুচরো বিক্রি হচ্ছে ৪০ টাকা কিলো দরে। জানা গেল, লালগড়ের এক চাষী এদিন সাদা বেগুন এনেছিলেন। পুজোর মরশুমে কয়েকদিন বাজারে সাদা বেগুন পাওয়ার সম্ভাবনা রয়েছে।
