টেস্ট ক্রিকেট থেকে অবসরের সিদ্ধান্ত ডেল স্টেইনের ! আন্তর্জাতিক টেস্ট ক্রিকেট মহলের টেস্টর লাল বলে যেমন চমক দেখাতেন তেমনি সাদা বলেও তাঁর অবদান অসামান্য। সেই ডেল স্টেইন এবার টেস্ট ক্রিকেট থেকে অবসর নেওয়ার কথা ঘোষণা করলেন তবে একদিনের আন্তর্জাতিক ক্রিকেট এবং টি২০ তে খেলা চালিয়ে যাবেন তিনি। ৩৬ বছরের এই স্টেইন দক্ষিণ আফ্রিকা ক্রিকেট দলের হয়ে এখনও অবধি সর্বাধিক উইকেটের অংশীদার হয়ে রয়েছে। মোট ৯৩টি টেস্ট ম্যাচ খেলেছেন তিনি। এদিন ডেল স্টেইন অবসরের জল্পনার মধ্যদিয়েও বললেন, আজ আমি ক্রিকেটের যে ফরম্যাট থেকে অবসরের ঘোষণা করলাম যা আমার নিজের খুবই প্রিয়। আর এই টেস্ট ক্রিকেট আমার কাছে মানসিকভাবে, শারীরিকভাবে এবং আবেগের দিক দিয়েও খুবই গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ছিল। তবে এখন থেকে আমি একদিনের ক্রিকেট ম্যাচ এবং টি২০ ম্যাচের প্রতি মনোনিবেশ করে যাবো। ডেল স্টেইন কারও নাম না উল্লেখ করে প্রায় গোটা ক্রিকেট জগতের সকলকেই ধন্যবাদ জানিয়ে বললেন, প্রায় সকলেই আমার বড় এই জার্নির অঙ্গ। ‘ধন্যবাদ’!
