কলকাতা: রাজ্যে প্রাথমিক শিক্ষকরা চরম বৈষম্যের শিকার হচ্ছেন। বিভিন্ন সময়ে এই শিক্ষকদের ওপরই চাপিয়ে দেওয়া হয় বিভিন্ন কাজের বোঝা। কিন্তু কার্যক্ষেত্রে চরম বঞ্চনার শিকার হতে হচ্ছে। রাজ্য সরকারের বিরুদ্ধে এই গুরুতর অভিযোগ তুলে শহীদ মিনার ময়দানে অবস্থানে বসল কয়েকশো প্রাইমারি শিক্ষক। উস্থি ইউনাইটেড প্রাইমারি টিচার্স ওয়েলফেয়ার অ্যাসোসিয়েশনের পক্ষ থেকে এই অবস্থান শুরু হয়েছে।
বেতন বৈষম্য অবসানের দাবি জানিয়েছেন আন্দোলনকারীরা। তাদের আন্দোলনের প্রতি নৈতিক সমর্থন জানিয়ে অবস্থান মঞ্চে প্রাক্তন বিচারপতি অশোক গঙ্গোপাধ্যায় সহ বিশিষ্টজনেরাও হাজির হয়েছিলেন। শুধু বিশিষ্টজনেরাই নয়, প্রাথমিক শিক্ষকদের এই আন্দোলনের সমর্থন জানিয়ে মঞ্চে হাজির হয়েছিলেন বিরোধী রাজনৈতিক দলের নেতারাও।
