পশ্চিম মেদিনীপুর: মাঝরাতে লুট হলো গৃহস্থের বাড়ি । মেদিনীপুর শহরের সুযাগঞ্জ পালবাড়ি এর কাছে অভিষেক মাহাতো নামে এক গৃহ শিক্ষকের বাড়িতে রাতের অন্ধকারে দুজন দুষ্কৃতী আলমারি ভেঙে চুরি করে। গৃহকর্তার অভিযোগ খোয়া গিয়েছে আনুমানিক তিন লক্ষ টাকার সোনার গহনা, নগদ কুড়ি হাজার টাকা সহ একটি মোবাইল ফোন। রাত্রি দেড়টা থেকে দুটোর মধ্যে মুখে কাপড় বেঁধে ঘরের ভেতরেই এক ব্যক্তিকে ঘোরাঘুরি করতে দেখে চিৎকার শুরু করেন গৃহকর্তার পুত্রবধূ বনশ্রীদেব সিংহ । এর পরেই সবকিছু নিয়ে পালিয়ে যায় চোরেরা ।
গৃহকর্তার অনুমান পরিচিত লোকেরাই এই চুরির পিছনে রয়েছে। খবর পেয়ে ঘটনাস্থলে আসেন ১৮ নং ওয়ার্ডের কাউন্সিলর সৌমেন খান। এলাকায় এত বড় চুরির ঘটনা না ঘটলেও ছোটখাটো চুরি প্রায় লেগেই থাকে, এই তথ্য স্বীকার করে নিয়েছেন কাউন্সিলর নিজেও। বিস্তর অভিযোগ থাকলেও সচেতনতার অভাব এবং প্রয়োজনীয় ব্যবস্থার ক্ষেত্রে গাফিলতির দিকটা মেনে নিয়েছেন কাউন্সিলরও। ঘটনার পিছনে কে বা কারা জড়িত তা খতিয়ে দেখতে ইতিমধ্যে তদন্ত শুরু করেছে মেদিনীপুর কোতোয়ালি থানার পুলিশ।
