শুক্রবার পুরসভার সামনে সবুজ পতাকা নাড়িয়ে হাইড্রোলিক টোটো ও শবদেহ বহনের গাড়ি উদ্বোধন করেন মহকুমা শাসক নকুলচন্দ্র মাহাত ও পুরসভার চেয়ারম্যান দুর্গেশ মল্লদেব। জেলায় সরকারি ভাবে শবদেহ বহনের জন্য কোন গাড়ি ছিল না। এই প্রথম পুরসভার উদ্যোগে শবদেহ বহনের পরিষেবা চালু হল। ঝাড়গ্রাম শহরে জঞ্জাল পরিষ্কার করার জন্য হাইড্রোলিক টোটো ব্যবহার করবে পুরসভা। এজন্য পুরসভার উদ্যোগে প্রথম পর্যায়ে ১০টি হাইড্রোলিক টোটো কেনা হয়েছে।
পুরসভা সূত্রে খবর, ২১.৪০ বর্গ কিমি ঝাড়গ্রাম শহরে জঞ্জাল পরিষ্কার করার জন্য একটি কম্প্যাক্টর, দু’টি ট্রাক্টর রয়েছে। তা দিয়ে শহরের জঞ্জাল পরিষ্কার করা হত। কিন্তু কম্প্যাক্টর ও দু’টি ট্রাক্টর শহরের সব ছোট ছোট গলিতে ঢুকতে পারে না। যারফলে নিয়মিত শহরে জঞ্জাল পরিষ্কার করা হয় না বলে অভিযোগ। তবুও কম্প্যাক্টর ও ট্রাক্টরের সাহায্যে জঞ্জাল সংগ্রহ করে বিভিন্ন শহরের শ্রীরামপুর এলাকায় ডাম্পিং গ্রাউণ্ডে ময়লা ফেলা হয়। পুরসভার সূত্রে খবর, শহরের ১৮টি ওয়ার্ডের জঞ্জাল ফেলার জন্য ১২টি বড় ভ্যাট ও প্রায় ১০০টি ছোট ছোট ভ্যাট রয়েছে। কিন্তু সেই সমস্ত ভ্যাটগুলি নিয়মিত পরিষ্কার না করা হয় না বলে অভিযোগ শহরবাসীর। যারফলে শহরের বিভিন্ন জায়গায় জঞ্জালের স্তুপে ভরে থাকে। তাই এবার ছোট ছোট গলিতে জঞ্জাল পরিষ্কার করার জন্য হাইড্রোলিক টোটো ব্যবহার করবে পুরসভা। এজন্য প্রথম পর্যায়ে পুরসভা ১০টি হাইড্রোলিক ই-রিক্সা কিনেছে। এজন্য ১৬ লক্ষ ৮০ হাজার টাকা খরচ হয়েছে। শহরের ১৮টি ওয়ার্ডের মধ্যে দু’টি ওয়ার্ড ভিত্তিক একটি হাইড্রোলিক টোটো বরাদ্দ করা হয়েছে। এছাড়াও আরও একটি হাইড্রোলিক টোটো শহরের বিভিন্ন রাস্তার পরিষ্কার করার জন্য বরাদ্দ করা হয়েছে। শবদেহ বহনের গাড়িটি একটি সংস্থা পুরসভাকে বিনামূল্যে দান করেছে।
