আফনান: নানা ঝল্পনা কল্পনার অবসন ঘটিয়ে এমাসের প্রথম দিকে চুক্তি শেষ হওয়ার আগেই বাংলাদেশ ক্রিকেট দলের কোচের দায়িত্ব ছেড়ে দেন চন্ডিকা হাথুরুসিংহ। আগে থেকে উঠা গুঞ্জন সত্য করে বেহালদশায় পড়া শ্রীলংকা ক্রিকেট দলের দায়িত্ব নেন তিনি। আর দায়িত্ব নিয়েই খেলোয়াড়দের নিয়মানুবর্তিতা ও শৃঙ্খল করতে কঠোর অবস্থান নিয়েছেন হাথুরু।এতটাই কড়া, যে অনুশীলনের সময় ক্রিকেটারদের গান শোনা নিষিদ্ধ করে দিয়েছেন।
প্রথম অনুশীলন শেষে লঙ্কানদের শৃঙ্খলা নিয়ে ভীষণ চটেছেন বাংলাদেশের এই সাবেক কোচ। দল নির্বাচনেও ‘পূর্ণ নিয়ন্ত্রণ’ দাবি করে ২০১৯ বিশ্বকাপে খেলতে শ্রীলঙ্কানদের ওপর কঠোর নিয়ম-শৃঙ্খলার আওতায় আনতে চাইছেন এই কোচ।
১৯৯৬-এর বিশ্বচ্যাম্পিয়নরা তাদের ক্রিকেট ইতিহাসের জঘন্যতম বছর কাটিয়েছে। পুরো বছরে ৫৭টি ম্যাচ খেলে ৪০টিতেই হেরেছেন চান্ডিমাল-ম্যাথুসরা। এই দলটিকেই বলা হচ্ছে গত দুই দশকের সবচেয়ে বাজে দল। হাথুরুর মতে, এই দলের পারফরম্যান্সের উত্তরণ ঘটাতে কঠোর নিয়মের মধ্যে আনতে হবে ক্রিকেটারদের। অনুশীলনে আসলেই গান শোনা নিষিদ্ধ করেছেন কি না, এমন প্রশ্নের জবাবে হাথুরু এএফপিকে বলেছেন, ‘গান শুনতে হলে তাদের বাসায় ফিরে যেতে হবে।’
গত জুন মাসে শ্রীলঙ্কার ক্রীড়ামন্ত্রী দয়াসিরি জয়াসেকারা ক্রিকেটারদের ‘বেশি মোটা’ বলে সমালোচনা করেছিলেন। সে সময়ের জিম্বাবুয়ে সফরে দলে না থাকা কোনো খেলোয়াড়ই নাকি ফিটনেস পরীক্ষায় পাস করতে পারেননি। সে সময় দলের জন্য বিশেষ ডায়েটেরও ব্যবস্থা করা হয়েছিল। ভারতে খেলতে যাওয়া টি-টোয়েন্টি দলের নির্বাচন সম্পর্কেও অসন্তুষ্ট ছিলেন মন্ত্রী সাহেব। কঠোর স্বভাবের মন্ত্রীর অধীনে কঠোর কোচই পেয়েছে শ্রীলঙ্কা। বাংলাদেশের দায়িত্ব ছেড়ে শ্রীলঙ্কা গিয়েও নির্বাচক প্যানেলে তাঁর অন্তর্ভুক্তি দাবি করেছেন হাথুরু।
জাতীয় দল নির্বাচনে কোচকে অন্তর্ভুক্ত করা হতো না। কিন্তু তা হাথুরু মোটেই মানতে চান না। প্রয়োজনে আইনের সংশোধন চান তিনি, ‘একাদশ বাছাইয়ে আমি পূর্ণ স্বাধীনতা ও দায়িত্ব পেতে চাই। খেলার আইন অনুসারে কোচ নির্বাচনপ্রক্রিয়ায় সম্পৃক্ত হতে পারেন না। কোচ থাকা অবস্থাতেই আমার নির্বাচক হওয়ার অনুরোধ তারা বিবেচনা করছে।’ এর আগে বাংলাদেশের কোচ থাকার সময়ও নির্বাচক প্যানেলে অন্তর্ভুক্ত হয়েছিলেন হাথুরু।
