বার্সেলোনাকে লা লিগা, চ্যাম্পিয়ন্স লিগ ও কোপা দেল রে-র ট্রেবল জেতানোর পাশাপাশি আর্জেন্টিনাকেও নিয়ে গিয়েছিলেন কোপা আমেরিকার ফাইনালে। স্বভাবতই আর কোনো খেলোয়াড় তার ধারে-কাছে নেই। এই বছর ইতোমধ্যে মেসি জিতেছেন, ইউরোপিয়ান সেরা ফুটবলার ও লা লিগার সেরা ফুটবলারের পুরস্কার। আর সেই সঙ্গে প্রভাবশালী গার্ডিয়ান পত্রিকার জরিপেও জিতলেন সেরা ফুটবলারের পুরস্কার।
